The past semester in ITEC 7410, Instructional Technology and Leadership has really helped me become more educated about what leadership in an instructional technology position looks like. I have used the assignments to gain background knowledge regarding how to assess where my school is technology-wise, how to plan, and how to address the areas that need attention. With the Shared Vision Plan, I found how to make a plan for my school’s future in technology that is achievable with short term goals and teamwork. Using my school’s present guidelines and expectations, I created the SWOT Analysis and looked for new ways that we could improve from the assessment. Finally after making the vision and analyzing the current situation, I was able to create an action plan to put the suggestions from the SWOT in to play. Part of that action plan involved a program that I was also able to write a grant proposal to achieve. Throughout the entire process, it was helpful to stay up-to-date on the current trends of instructional technology by using my RSS Feed Reader, Feedly. Knowledge is the key to success, and Feedly is a great tool to assist you on that road to success. I have not had any experiences with these types of conditions before this class and can confidently say that by completing these assignments I have gained valuable knowledge to serve me in years to come.
